A RIVER as sunset and sunrise

Music and film : The Sei

This film also features as part of the main dance space and echoes the colours of sunset and rises. How to bring the sun into the space? How to raise the sun inside ourselves when its not available to us?

“Bringing our attention to water and light, I believe, can influence more natural internal pacing and dynamics.  We cannot skip the body, and with these films, we offer a natural world rhythm, light and sound cocoon as we fill our selves with feeling.” Stace Gill | The Sei

The music was created from extended improvisations performances with Music Producer and artist Ross Dowling.  Some of this music is included on The Sei’s latest music release and EP “We must be still Alive?” with Paragon Music Group.

A RIVER choreographed to form shapeshifting flags

Music and film : The Sei

Flags are such loaded timeless symbols in our communities and nations, representing so many diverse things and identities for all of us, from borders to affiliations to ceremonies and rituals, war and peace, faith and freedom.  A natural focus on this symbol emerged independently for myself and Maria in our personal research.  A fluid flag developed in my ADHISTA editing process, and this felt like a flag I could get behind; an ever moving, equanimous reflection of the natural world and the dances/relationships that appear, and are noticed, within it.  F L A G S features in the main dance space for THE PEACE PROCESS, and forms elements of the shows lighting.

A RIVER choreographed to form a female body

Music and film : The Sei

chapters :

PELVIS  |  VULVA  |  MITOCHONDRIA  |  BONES  |    PLASMA  |   BLOOD CELL  |   DREAM FIELD  |  NUCLEUS  |  LUNG  |  CELL  |  BONE MARROW

This series is a choreography of rivers, lakes and light to form the artists interpretation of a female body.  How to encourage riverine states into our own experience: a shapeshifting, perfectly paced, metamorphic stream of natural presence.

Some of these films form the entrance to THE PEACE PROCESS when presented in multiple rooms.  These films were created for audiences to pass through before they entered the central dance space where the dancers are performing in a continuous loop for many hours.  In this space the artists are following a 10 chapter spiralling choreography map by choreographer, Maria Nilsson Waller.   This spiralling map could be performed forever, and every loop different ever time it is performed.
